All Candles Are Not The Same

I love candles! The more candles, the better. They are such an inexpensive way to set the mood. I have some do's and don'ts about candles for you.

Do get candles that have the appropriate amount of hours. I always buy candles with at least 6 hours of burn time.

Don't buy tea lights. They are useless. They will stay lit for an hour tops.

Do make sure your candles are in something safe. They should be contained in a votive, hurricane, or some other glass. No one wants wax dripping all over the table.

Don't get scented candles. Guests can be sensitive to smells.

Do make sure you have someone to light all of the candles! If you hired a Wedding Coordinator then you are all set!  If not, ask your venue or caterer if that is something they will do. You can always enlist a friend or family member that is not part of the bridal party.  Make sure you have plenty of lighters ready to go.

Don't waste your money on candles for outdoors unless you know that they will stay lit. I have re-lit sooo many candles that are a lost cause! If the candle is far enough down in a container that the wind will not effect it or if it is a covered area, then they might stay lit. You can opt for battery operated candles instead.

Do opt for the most realistic battery operated candles if your venue does not allow real candles.

Don't buy different color battery operated candles. You may have different size candles. Make sure you turn them on next to each other. You don't want some with white light and others with yellow light. Some even look orange. The colors clash and it does not look good!
